Struggling to Lose Weight? Could it Be “Low Fat Foods”?

If you’re finding it hard to lose weight you just might be sabotaging your efforts with foods listed as “no fat” or “low fat”

Even though consumption of dietary fat has decreased dramatically the incidence of obesity continues to rise today. Today, there are more overweight people than ever before. How come?

Fat free does not mean calorie free! We fall into the trap of thinking it must good for us and will help us lose weight. The truth is that often loads of sugar and other high calorie ingredients are added to make the product taste good. Foods are even labelled fat free when they have never contained fat! Did you know that marshmallows are fat free? Yep, they are but also they are full of sugar and calories so dont be fooled into thinking that these are a healthy choice. Beware food that is labelled ‘diet’, check the food labels.

A food product can in fact be fat free but can be full of calories. For example the product could be fat free but 100% sugar. No wonder you find it hard to lose weight!

Marketers hope that you are too busy (which is often the case) to stop and read each food label, so instead you see the line in big letters saying the product is ‘fat free’ and think its a good choice. Try to read the label at least once so you will get familiar with the ingredients in the items you are buying. You dont have to read all the ingredients, usually the first couple will tell you whether you should buy it or not.

So don’t be fooled by clever marketing on food products, learn a little more about goes into those items and you will be on your way to losing weight.
