Sunday, February 20th, 2011

Dr. Richard Johnson a Kidney Disease researcher discovered a connection between Fructose and elevated triglycerides, hypertension, kidney disease, and Obesity. He also uncovered links to a biochemical condition which link an addiction process that may be induced in some people from the Fructose. His thought is that it may have originated as an evolutionary process among the people who evolved in Eastern Europe as a mechanism to survive the cold winters in which the people had very little access to food.

Ihave been surrendering my desire for food to my Higher Power and have completely abstained from flour and sugar since 3/29/08. As a result, I am transforming spiritually, emotionally, and physically (lost 72 lbs; now on maintenance). This video is a reading from an Overeaters Anonymous book titled For Today. The book is widely read by people with a food addiction, whether it be a compulsive eater, bolimic, or anorexic. Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope where members respect one anothers anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions. OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance; or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. If you want to stop your compulsive overeating, investigate Overeaters Anonymous.

Xanax (anxiolytic addiction and withdrawal)

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Be My Friend - www.myspace.com Gwen Olsen spent fifteen years as a pharmaceutical sales rep working for such health care giants as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed a successful, fast-paced career until several conscious-altering experiences began awakening her to the dangers lurking in every American medicine cabinet. Her most poignant lessons, however, came as both victim and survivor of life-threatening adverse drug reactions. After leaving pharmaceutical sales in 2000, Gwen worked in the natural foods industry first as an Account Manager for Nature’s Way, and then as a Regional Sales Manager for Gaia Herbs. She is currently a writer, speaker, and natural health consultant. In this video Gwen discusses anxiolytics (anti-anxiety medications). These medications are sometimes also called minor tranquilizers. These drugs include the benzodiazephines such as Valium, Xanax and Ativan. Buspar is also non-benzodiazephine anxiolytic. These drugs are highly addictive and people experience severe withdrawal symptoms when coming off of these drugs. Gwen specifically talks about her own Xanax addiction. She also discusses “rebound syndrome” and “discontinuation syndrome”, which are basically just withdrawal symptoms. www.gwenolsen.com www.youtube.com www.livevideo.com
