Hoodia 60 Minutes and Hoodia BBC Reports Are Being Misrepresented

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I do a lot of research and writing on hoodia supplements. I realized that I haven’t written about the hoodia 60 minutes and BBC reports. I feel it’s important to bring these reports up because they are being twisted around on many websites. The claim that 60 minutes and the BBC endorsed a specific brand of hoodia diet pills is bogus. Don’t believe the lie.

It is all too common to see the words, “Endorsed by” or “As featured on” and then see the CBS 60 Minutes logo and the BBC logo on websites that are promoting or selling hoodia supplements. This makes people who are shopping for hoodia supplements believe that the products on these websites have been endorsed by 60 Minutes and the BBC. The truth is these two media companies never mentioned a specific hoodia diet pill, tested or endorsed one.

60 minutes reporter, Leslie Stahl, did do a story on the hoodia gordonii plant on November 21, 2004. She traveled to South Africa’s Kalahari Desert to see the native plant growing in the wild. She ate a small piece of it. She later reported that she wasn’t hungry all day and that the hoodia gordonii plan did work in suppressing her appetite.

This was all that Stahl reported about hoodia. Stahl, nor 60 minutes, endorsed a specific brand of hoodia diet pill. In fact, 60 minutes didn’t even feature a specific hoodia supplement in their show. But, you wouldn’t know this unless you had seen the program yourself or read the show’s transcript. Hoodia sellers are simply taking this report and twisting it around to their advantage in an attempt to sell their specific hoodia supplements.

Another example of how shady marketers are trying to get you to believe a lie is they have used the same tactics with the hoodia BBC report. Tom Mangold, BBC correspondent, did a show on hoodia in 2003. He, too, went to the Kalahari Desert to see for himself if the hoodia gordonii plant would affect his appetite. Not only did Mangold eat a small piece of the plant, but his camera man also ate a small piece of the hoodia gordonii plant. Afterwards they said they, “did not even think about food” that day. They went on to say they weren’t hungry for breakfast the following morning and their appetites for lunch were almost nonexistent.

As before with the hoodia 60 minutes report, the BBC did not test a specific hoodia supplement, or endorse one. All that Stahl and Mangold did was test the plant directly to get a first hand report on whether the plant controlled their appetites. Neither journalist endorsed or tested a particular hoodia supplement.

Any website that is trying to sell their hoodia product by claiming it was seen on 60 Minutes or the BBC is lying. As you can see, the hoodia 60 minutes and BBC reports have been misrepresented. Any company that has to be dishonest to sell their products shouldn’t be trusted. It makes me wonder what else they are exaggerating or out right lying about to make a sell?

Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pills

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Not surprisingly, along with so many other latest trends when it comes to dieting and supplements, Hoodia Gordonii diet tablets are making its way towards hitting the market. Their positioning in the market is that it is “all-natural 100 percent vegan diet pills” and this catch phrase has caught the fancy of individuals who are keen on weight loss. Well, they are at least interesting to persistent dieters who are always ready to try new weight loss products.

Here are the important things that you need to know about Hoodia Gordonii dieting pills if you still want to find out more about it. The trick of your mind towards thinking thus believing that you are already full once you’ve eaten even just a small portion of food is the manner by which these tabs operate and this results to a limited food intake and suppression of your appetite that greatly contributes to losing weight.

The Hoodia plant is the main source of these tabs which during past times had been used by men to curb their hunger whenever they were sent to war or engaged into long battles. The Hoodia Gordonii dieting tablets are said to contain a huge concentration of a chemical substance called Molecule P57, which bars hunger signals from reaching the brain.

How much do Hoodia Gordonii dieting tabs cost? The price of Hoodia Gordonii dieting tabs vary from retail merchant to retail merchant, but most formulations start at around $12, going up to as high as $60 (for stronger combo formulations). To check out whether these would work at all for you, you could start with a bottle containing 90 caps and can last for a month, and this works out cheapest. On average, an additional 60 capsules of 750 milligram tablets will cost you of about $30 or more.

Elixir preparations are also available at the same price, which are considered first-rate in suppressing cravings for junk food as well as nocturnal hunger pangs. You can also purchase Hoodia caps with fat-burning abilities in its special preparation at a price of less than $40 which is said to be best taken before meals at 2 to 3 times a day.

Tablets with combo formulations are also available but to buy them you need to spend as much as $60 and even higher. They are believed to be better in terms of speed of action and efficacy. Hoodia is not the only fundamental ingredient of these strengthened Hoodia dieting tabs since other components are also involved such as the Biogenic amines, Cinnamon twig extract, Spirulina, and enzyme mixtures and many more.

Beware of counterfeit products: There are Hoodia diet tablets available in the market where the manufacturers use various types of fillers like Caffeine, Epherda, etc. The main reason why some manufacturers fake their products is because there is insufficient Hoodia Gordonii thus making sure the manufacturer has a good reputation should be done to save you from all the troubles and worries of buying the fake ones.

Find those who sell only high-potency products and have access to Hoodia farms (mostly in South Africa), enabling them to manufacture top-quality diet tabs with the right dosage.

The CITES Certificate: One Key to Finding Pure Hoodia Gordonii

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

If you are thinking about taking hoodia diet pills to help you with your weight loss, you probably know that CITES certificates differentiate pure hoodia gordonii from inferior hoodia products. Yet, I wonder how many people truly understand what the CITES certificate really is and why it’s so important. As a consumer I want you to know what the certificate is and what it means within the hoodia market.

As you probably already know, the hoodia gordonii plant is in high demand. But, did you know that it is a protected species and it’s in limited supply? Until recent years the cactus like plant only grew in the wild in South Africa. But, due to the increased demand for the plants weight loss effects, many people have taken to farming the plant. In order to protect the plant and the San people who have an interest in their native plant, the South African government has put regulations on the hoodia gordonii plant. This means there are licenses, regulations and controls for the growing, harvesting and exportation of the plant.

One of the basic regulations put in place for the endangered hoodia gordonii is the implementation of the CITES certificate. CITES stands for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. This is basically an agreement between governments that ensures that international trade of the plant doesn’t threaten its survival. There are other regulations and documents that are required, too, but for the sake of this article I am only going to discuss the CITES certificate.

What this means is for someone to come in and export hoodia gordonii out of South Africa, they must first get a permit from CITES. Export permits from CITES must accompany all shipments of hoodia gordonii out of South Africa. It’s important to understand that these export permits are only good for six months. The permit holder must export the plant out within six months, or they must reapply and start the process over and obtain a new CITES permit.

A lot of people are confused about the dates on these CITES permits. Some people think if they are viewing a CITES permit and the date is old, this automatically means something underhanded or shady is going on with a company. All it really means is the expiration date for exportation has passed.

It is not uncommon to see outdated CITES permits. If someone ships in a large quantity of hoodia gordonii, they may still have some of the plant on hand even though their CITES permit has expired. The CITES permit stays with the product until it is all gone. The permit only proves the product that was shipped was authentic hoodia gordonii. It doesn’t have anything to do with how long it may sit at a supplier once it has been exported.

Another point to keep in mind is that the company or supplier shown on a CITES certificate doesn’t always match the name of the company selling the actual end product. For example, you may be interested in buying a hoodia supplement from “Helen’s Health Company” so you go to their website and you view their CITES certificate. Everything checks out except you notice the supplier shown on the permit is a company called, “Supplier Incorporated.” Shouldn’t the company listed on the permit be Helen’s Health Company? Not always.

There are only a few suppliers who are issued CITES permits. Supplement companies then buy their hoodia gordonii from these few suppliers. In the example above, Supplier Incorporated is listed on the permit so that means they were the actual supplier that exported the hoodia gorodnii. Helen’s Health Company is displaying a CITES certificate issued to Supplier Incorporated so that means Helen’s Health purchased the hoodia gordonii they use in their products from Supplier Incorporated.

It’s important that you understand that just because a website display a CITES certificate isn’t a guarantee that the company is packaging pure hoodia gordonii into their products. As you probably know, there are no regulations on supplements, so companies can make claims about their products, even if they may not be true.

The CITES permit doesn’t regulate what happens to the plant once it’s exported. The CITES certificate only serves as a sign that pure hoodia gordonii plants were exported from South Africa. A supplement company can do whatever they want with it once it is in their possession. They may even claim to be packaging 500mg of hoodia gordonii into their capsules when they really may not be.

I hope you now understand the importance of CITES certificates. Understanding what they are, and what they aren’t, should help you when you go to purchase pure hoodia gordonii.

Unsurprisingly, along with so many other latest trends when it comes to dieting and supplements, Hoodia dieting tablets are making its way towards hitting the marketplace. At least this has triggered the interest of people who are keen all the time to try new introductions.

In case you are wondering about the price of Hoodia Gordonii diet pills, they vary from one retailer to the other, but you could get Hoodia diet tablets starting from around $12 going up to $60, for pills which have stronger variations. Bottles containing 90 tablets (enough for three months) of 400 milligram caps are cheapest - you can try them first to see if they work for you. If you want to spend more than $40, then opt for combo formulations. They are believed to be better in terms of speed of action and efficacy. These extra strength Hoodia dieting tabs contain over and above Hoodia Gordonii Biogenic amines, Cinnamon twig extract, Spirulina, enzyme amalgamations and more.

Be aware of phony products: The addition of such fillers like Caffeine, Epherda and other similar ingredients is done by some deceitful producers to marketplace a lot of Hoodia Gordonii dieting tabs without using as much of the important ingredients as needed. Just before you make any purchase of Hoodia Gordonii dieting tablets, be keen in finding out whether the manufacturer is dependable since many of them can deceive you due to the scarcity in Hoodia Gordonii which is primarily the reason why dishonest acts are done.

The most reputed manufacturers of these tabs would have to have ready access to the Hoodia farms, usually located in South Africa and their products would always contain the right ingredient in the recommended dosage.

Manage Your Diet with Hoodia Gordonii

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Do you know that a lot of people are still unaware of how hoodia diet pills impact on a person’s health when taken everyday? Many of them are also in the dark as to what types of food can or cannot be taken with the supplements. Indeed, despite being widely-known and used for some time now, many aspects about the products are unfamiliar to many people.

Hoodia gordonii is simply a natural appetite suppressant. It isn’t a stimulant so it doesn’t burn fat or produce any unwanted side effects. It tricks the brain into thinking it is full. The idea behind hoodia is that if you feel full, you’ll eat less and as a result you’ll lose weight. So how will it affect you? Most describe the experience as not having the desire to eat.

There are no limits to what you can eat while taking hoodia but obviously, if the goal is to reduce weight, a healthy, balanced meal is in order all the time. Because of the effects of the supplements however, you will rarely feel the need to eat and may want to just do away with eating most of the time.

Even if you always feel full and don’t feel like eating, take in a healthy, balanced meal nevertheless. While you may not feel it, your body not only requires nutrients but also the calories to keep it going. Restricting your intake of calories slows down the body’s metabolism and instead of reducing weight you could wind up packing on the pounds.

The great thing about hoodia diet pills is that you’ll have greater control over what you eat and how much you eat. Since you won’t be as hungry as you used to be, you won’t be tempted to overeat and you’ll be more motivated to eat healthier foods. That’s the true power of hoodia gordonii - gaining control over your diet.

Finally, it’s important to point out that hoodia supplements, while effective for a lot of people, don’t always work. To ensure you have the greatest chance of success with these diet pills it’s important you take authentic hoodia diet pills. Unfortunately, most are fake so be sure you do your homework.

As soon as you come across a hoodia product that’s effective, start taking control of your eating habits. Plus, you don’t have to worry about unwanted side effects, so achieving your weight loss goals is simple and effortless.

Find Genuine Hoodia - Over 78% of ALL Hoodia is Worthless

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Hoodia is possibly the best weight loss supplement available. It makes weight loss almost effortless. But be careful. You will have to find genuine Hoodia products.

For several years now the weight loss community has become fascinated with the product Hoodia Gordonii. Unfortunately, too many well intentioned consumers have been fooled into buying ineffective Hoodia supplements.

Take a moment to search the web and you will see that this is a fairly new market. Type Hoodia into Google and you will get almost 14,000,000 hits. Each of these websites are eager to sell you Hoodia, each will tempt you to buy from them.

Please be aware; You will not find genuine Hoodia on over 78% of these websites. The manufacturers, in an effort to cut costs and save money, will use the wrong parts of the plants. This yields a product that is ineffective if not worthless.

Allow me to prove what I just said, as it is bold claim.

An investigation was done by Alchemist Pharmaceuticals, a leading laboratory. They discovered that only 22% of the supplements sent to them for testing contained pure Hoodia Gordonii. The rest fell far below standards.

The good news is, there is a simple way for YOU to tell whether or not you are receiving a pure product. To find genuine Hoodia, ask yourself the following:

Which Hoodia plant are they using to make your supplements?

There are fraudulent companies that will be vague about which hoodia plant they use. Dont spend your valuable time and money on a product just because it includes hoodia in the ingredient list. You will be ingesting one of the other 13 hoodia plants that exist. You will not find genuine Hoodia in them.

P57 is the active ingredient found in Hoodia Gordonii ONLY. This is the active ingredient that makes losing weight with Hoodia such a breeze. Of all 13 Hoodia plants, only Hoodia Gordonii contains the P57 molecule that suppresses appetite.

To find Genuine Hoodia, please be certain it contains Hoodia Gordonii.

Can Hoodia Help YOU with Your Weight Loss Efforts?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

You can picture yourself thin. You want to feel better and have higher energy levels. Wanting these things and being able to stick with a weight loss plan are two very different things. Failing to stick to a diet and lose weight is very common, but there are ways to help boost your will power and help you lose weight and feel great!

The problem with following a healthy weight loss program and exercise routine is usually about your ability to stick with the program. You knew what you should or should not eat, but temptation got the best of you.

Hoodia may be your solution to this common dieting problem. To determine this, you need to know how hoodia works, which will in turn, help you decide if hoodia will solve your weight loss dilemmas.

Hoodia gordonii is a cactus found in South Africa. How did a cactus become a popular weight loss aid? Years ago, an anthropologist observed the bushman chewing on the stem of the cactus when they were out on long hunting treks where vegetation was sparse. He learned that they did this to stave off hunger.

Years later, we know why hoodia is such an effective weight loss aid. The active ingredient in hoodia gordonii is p57, which is capable of mimicking glucose. Your hunger is physiologically triggered by low levels of glucose. When glucose drops, your brain sends a signal to let you know you should eat. Because p57 mimics glucose, the brain is fooled into thinking that glucose levels are just fine and in turn, you do not feel hungry.

In other words, hoodia is an appetite suppressant. If you have been unable to stick with a stricter diet in order to lose weight because you feel hungry while on the diet, then hoodia may help you control your appetite. If you are an emotional eater and eat even when you are not hungry, hoodia may help give you that edge you need to get through a craving without indulging and achieve the slender figure you desire!

Adjusting your brain’s response to glucose can be very beneficial for weight loss because your diet that leads to weight gain made this response ineffective. If you previously ate large portions, too much throughout the day, and/or foods high in sugar content, you altered your hunger triggering system.

Diets high in sugar also foul up the signaling system for the same reason. Your brain got used to high levels of glucose and adjusted accordingly. Hoodia can help you eat less because it will restore the normal signaling process.

There are no side effects with hoodia. Caffeine or other stimulants used in traditional weight loss aids often cause a jittery feeling, but hoodia does not seem to produce this same effect. Because diabetics rely on steady glucose levels for managing their disease, they should not take hoodia. As well, pregnant or nursing mothers should not take hoodia (or any other weight loss supplement).

3 Things to Keep in Mind When Reading Hoodia Reviews

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

There are certainly plenty of hoodia gordonii reviews on the internet today. When I first looked into using hoodia, all of the false information astounded me. There are so many ludicrous claims that I found myself laughing aloud at my computer.

I want to share what I learned when reading the reviews so that you could avoid wasting your time and money on false hoodia products. Im a nutritionist, so its easy for me to distinguish between real hoodia products that will help you lose weight (such as the one I use, HoodiThin) and junk!

On the internet, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a goose! People who want to lose weight generally look for the path of least resistance because, quite frankly, weight loss is a difficult path. I know this! Weight loss manufacturers know this. They prey on it.

So, rule number one when reading hoodia reviews is to determine whether or not the message they are sending sounds too good to be true. Hoodia gordonii is an appetite suppressant. It does not burn fat. It does not block fat. It does not work if you continue to eat whether youre hungry or not (usually emotional eating).

Diet pills or liquid hoodia? Liquid! The reason behind this is that diet pills are not as effective as pure hoodia liquid extract due to a couple of factors.

For one, diet pills take longer to digest. You want an appetite suppressant that will work quickly. Hoodia gordonii pure liquid extracts will hit your system at lightening speed. That will offer you the quickest path to not feeling hungry, which will in turn help you lose weight more effectively.

As well, diet pills usually contain fillers that you dont need. These fillers also make it more difficult to digest the hoodia gordonii ingredient, which is the part of the supplement you want. HoodiThin is 100% liquid hoodia extract. This is an important factor in choosing a supplement because you wont have to worry about potential side effects.

Finally, hoodia isnt cheap. The hoodia cactus grows in South Africa and its protected. It can only legally be traded with CITES certified companies. Obtaining cheap hoodia usually means that the hoodia is fake or impure.

Cheap hoodia products are probably fake or contain such low amounts of hoodia that the active ingredient p57 is ineffective. Your savings is lost if the product will not control your appetite.

If the weight loss company is able to show CITES documents and independent testing results on their hoodia, theres a good likelihood that their hoodia product is pure. Remember that knowledge is key. Read product reviews carefully and make sure that you know what youre getting!

3 Important Factors in the Top Secret Fat Loss Secret!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Lowering your food intake and increasing exercise is the correct way to lose weight, but many of us don’t lose weight by adjusting that weight loss equation. The rising obesity number suggests that something is awry with the way we attempt to lose weight.

I recently finished reading a fabulous book by Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst called Top Secret Fat Loss Secret. As a nutritionist, I am always on the look out for sound information in regard to weight loss. Dr. Gudakunsts book on fat loss reveals the major pitfalls of modern societys health and eating habits that have made those obesity numbers soar.

There are 3 reasons why I think Top Secret Fat Loss Secret is right for you.

Colon cleansing is important for weight loss to occur. Though colon cleansing seems like a fad, it does have a lot of merit providing you also follow the latter advice in Dr. Gudakunst’s book to keep your colon clean and your body detoxed for good. Theres more to colon cleansing and weight loss than a simple cleansing product.

Our diets and busy lives lead to unhealthy colons. If you have an unhealthy colon, you may have 5-25 pounds of extra weight simply because your colon is lined with waste that hasnt been eliminated. This waste is toxic and the longer it stays, the more toxic your body will become.

This affects your ability to lose weight for a myriad of reasons. For one, your digestive system is not working properly. It is slow and sluggish. The faster food moves through your system, the less we store as fat. In addition, nutrients are not being absorbed properly. When your body does not receive what it needs, it asks for more through cravings causing us to eat more.

Parasites can also inhabit unhealthy colons causing more toxic build up from their waste. The toxins eventually make it to other areas of the body causing all sorts of problems such as fatigue, irritability, decreased immunity and poor cardiovascular health. All of these situations can prevent weight loss and actually cause us to gain weight.

Another reason why I think Top Secret Fat Loss Secret is fantastic advice is that she tells you what foods have done this to your colon in the first place so you can correct the problem for good. Our diets are high in refined carbohydrates and saturated fat, yet low in fiber.

Dr. Gudakunst recommends that you switch out the processed and refined carbs with nutrionally sound choices that contain plenty of fiber; however, she recommends that you do this over time rather than all at once. You need time to adapt to the change and by doing things the right way, you will learn to enjoy these foods and keep your colon healthy. This in turn will help your permanent weight loss efforts.

The bonus tips at the end of the book were excellent. These tips are what you should know about adapting to a lifestyle that will help you lose weight and keep it off for good including useful advice on exercise. She actually has some pretty great insight to how we can make exercise a part of our lives rather than viewing it as a chore.

It is important that diet books give real weight loss advice that can be followed. It should also improve your overall health. Dr. Gudakunst was able to do that with Top Secret Fat Loss Secrets!

4 Reasons NOT to Use Hoodia Pills, Use Liquid Hoodia Extract

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The bush men of South Africa know something you might not about a native cactus called hoodia gordonii. By chewing on the stem of the hoodia gordonii cactus, they are able to stave off hunger when they are out on hunting trips amongst the sparse vegetation in the desert.

Food is so very convenient for us that many of us eat even when were not hungry regardless of any weight loss guide that we might be following.

Worse yet, when we dont have time to eat throughout the day, we often ruin a good diet guide by eating everything in sight. There are many times when the appetite suppressant effects of hoodia gordonii would be appreciated.

Maybe you cant chew on a hoodia gordonii cactus stem, but you can boost your weight loss efforts by using a different form of hoodia gordonii: liquid hoodia! Liquid hoodia is all the rage, and when you compare hoodia diet pills to liquid hoodia, there are some definite advantages in the liquid form.

HoodiThin has a distinct advantage over pills. The liquid hoodia extract in HoodiThin has a 95-98% absorption rate of the active ingredients whereas the average hoodia pill has a 2-20% absorption rate. This means that up to 98% of the active ingredients in hoodia gordonii pills arent absorbed and used.

When you price hoodia pills and compare them to liquid hoodia, its important that you can see the whole picture because the prices are deceiving. Remember that the large bottle of hoodia pills isnt nearly as effective as the liquid hoodia. Bigger just isnt better in this instance.

Fast is better when it comes to an effective appetite suppressant such as liquid hoodia. Hoodia gordonii pills take hours rather than minutes such as liquid hoodia to reach the bloodstream for that immediate appetite control you need.

Think about it this way. You know that a person with poor insulin control (as in diabetics) needs to get glucose into the bloodstream quickly when their blood sugar drops, right? Well, hoodia pills versus liquid hoodia are sort of like a sugary snack versus glucose paste.

A page of reviews on hoodia diet pills versus liquid hoodia will tell you how much quicker people felt less hungry when they used the liquid hoodia. You dont want to take the chance of waiting for hoodia diet pills to kick in when youre in the middle of a diet plan.

Would you like some talc with that hoodia? Hoodia pills contain fillers such as talc. So, unlike liquid hoodia that is pure liquid hoodia extract, youre also trying to digest these fillers which slow down the whole process.

And last but not least, liquid hoodia is easier to swallow and more convenient. Many people have trouble swallowing hoodia pills. Its easier to take a few drops of liquid hoodia without the need for finding a glass of water.
