The Reasons Not To Drink Soda
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010One of our most popular drinks is soda, and nearly every household has a fridge full of cans. What we don’t realize is that is we care about our bodies; we shouldn’t be drinking them at all. They are in fact very bad for us.
We all need to greatly cut back on the amount of soda that we drink, but a lot of us want reasons why. Here’s just a few of the surprising, and unpleasant, facts about soda.
The empty calories that are contained in soda have no value at all nutritionally. As they aren’t needed, our body’s simply store them as fat. You may think of a drink of soda as being free of fat, but the amount of sugar in every can is very fattening. So regularly consuming your favorite soda could result in substantial weight gain.
A very unpleasant fact about soda is the damage it does to our teeth. The staining builds up gradually until our teeth are discoloured. There is a direct link between soda and cavities.
A direct link has bee found between soda consumption and Diabetes, as the insulin has been produced so much quicker thanks to the all the sugar consumed in the soda. As the consumption of soda has risen, so has the amount of Diabetes sufferers.
This last point is the scariest of them all. Noel Muller, who works at the Georgetown medical center, has run recent study with quite horrifying results. 2or more sodas drunk per week will increase your likelihood by 87% of developing Pancreatic Cancer during your lifetime.
As this study isn’t conclusive with the results being so small, deaths caused by Pancreatic Cancer are on the increase and we should all seriously think about cutting back our soda consumption.
